The Clock is TICKING – Time. Money. Freedom. How to have all 3.

Time is Money. Money is time. Freedom isn’t free.

There are folks with money. But they are working until 4:55 PM the day of their funeral. They are stressed to the max, and trying to out make what their spouse can spend, hoping that an inevitable heart attack can wait until a time they can schedule it into their Google Planner.

On Monday the heart attack rate sky rockets in America. The rat race is full of burned out rodents, and it seems the cheese they are chasing has a trap attached to it. We exchanged the pioneer adventures of the unknown for a safe cubicle and the illusion of a safe weekly paycheck.

Our jobs are being replaced by robots and robotics and our factories are shipped overseas. New grads are willing to do our jobs for 1/2 the salary and 10 year olds in other countries are willing to do our jobs for 1920 wages. Technicians, computer experts, writers, and all kinds of advanced expertise are offering their services in India for 1/4 our salaries and companies are often hiring workers in other countries to provide a cheaper option. A friend of mine does business in China and just was quarantined in a Chinese hospital as he tested positive there on the flight in. He was given CT scans three times a day. The average price of a CT scan in America is $3,175. China charged him $10/ a scan. I don’t know his total bill, but it was “cheap” he said. In America he would probably get a bill for $20,000 – there it would probably be $200. And they probably took better care of him.

Things are spiraling out of control in our country. I don’t have all the answers. I don’t think going to college to get a degree in 4 years is too wise because we are not even sure our country will last that long at this rate. 2021 may be it. We don’t know.

BUT it is wise to strive for balance — we tend to land in one ditch or the other. Ditch one is just ignore all these things and hope things get better. Hope that growth is nothing and just forget about it – and if it gets too bad, there’s always Dr. Pimple Popper. Hope a socialist regime is good for America despite it bankrupting every country it’s ever touched. Hope you win the lottery. Hope those foreclosure notices were just playing hardball and they really aren’t serious. HOPE the world ends before your job does.

Ditch two is the NEVER ENOUGH Ditch. You are working 90 hours a week, have a billion dollar company, and you don’t know how much you will need to survive a full scale nuclear war, so you have a whole small country built below ground and you have it stocked with Oompa loompas to do the cooking and cleaning, you have a full pantry stocked with food that will feed a family of 5,909 until the year 3198 and you have enough toilet paper to supply all the bathrooms in California. And fill their closets.

There is a balance. We like to instead live in Crisis or Panic mode. But if we can build a side income while we have the full time job, live for today while preparing for tomorrow, be thankful no matter how bad the economy or the government or the weather or the toilet paper situation gets, and be willing to delay instant gratification for a small time each day (so that could mean reducing your Netflix time or your Facebook scrolling time or your time playing Solataire -or Minecraft/Pokemon/Farmville/AmongUs- or time watching Thursday night, Sunday afternoon, Sunday evening, Sunday night, Monday night football and Saturday college football.

So without further ado, Here are maybe some things to consider when it comes to finding success in the side business realm.

Tip 1 – Know that at first, anything that you don’t understand can look like a scam.

The main thing something looks like a scam is you don’t know all the rules. Imagine if you and your friend both spent 4 years learning to be a doctor and then you and your friend walk into the hospital and your friend gets a job and you get laughed at and sent home. What made the difference? Your friend knew the “secret” – the secret why he was hired and you weren’t is he was aware that you need a license to practice medicine and so he graduated from a school, took his boards, and got a license. In many of today’s online endeavors, you need to know the skills and some of the “secrets” that are not easily found in a 5 minute YouTube tutorial or a 50 minute Free webinar.

If you don’t understand even some of the basics of Facebook’s algorithm, it can seem like navigating in a foreign land. People will be offered a side hustle, and if there is a way to build a team below you, they will reject it and cry out, “pyramid scheme!” Never mind, that if you map out your government, or your job, or the Girl Scouts, or your church it will all look like a pyramid. Most of these businesses you can go and build a ground floor of say 1000 customers yourself or you can build 10 floors and each floor can have 100 customers and essentially both businesses will earn you about the same in commissions. Meaning, you can build a team of customer gatherers in your side business selling make up or essential oils or CBD or cellular services or you can do all the gathering yourself — or a bit of each. BUT just because you see it can make the shape of a pyramid doesn’t make it a scam. But it doesn’t make it a get rich scheme either. The reality of the team building is this – most people do not want to build a business because they will hide behind the pyramid scheme claim, but then they join and later on they are offended it takes work prospecting customers and building a team and they really wanted it to be a pyramid scheme.

I will expand on the next tips at a later point-

Second, develop an attitude of thankfulness and fairness. If you were paid to train at your new job, you would spend 40 hours in front of webinars and modules and get HIPAA certifications every week. However, when it turns to your own business it is harder to commit to an hour training or weekly meetings on your own time. But see this as an investment.

Third, determine to stick with this UNTIL you get results and REGARDLESS of obstacles or people thinking you are nuts. IF you bought a 1 million dollar burger franchise, you won’t back peddle when your sister the Vegan gives you a hard time. But buy a $89 kit and get in a side hustle and hear a negative word from Uncle Stevie, and you want to run. Stay the course.

Fourth, you won’t get instant results. If you start a job you won’t be comfortable for a few weeks. If your job called you to cold call and you hate cold calling, you would do it and by week 3 you would be able to do it in your sleep. Do the activities that lead to success and understand in a side business you don’t get paid upfront, but you can get paid over and over and over for one sale for the next 50 years if you find the right person. They buy from you and they keep buying and they love what you have and tell others and they buy and so on. That is the power of selling instead of just exchanging time for dollars. Get excited for what this different way of earning a living can offer – instead of getting frustrated!! If I can help in any way, let me know!!! Don’t quit!!
