Do you know someone in your family battling an addiction? Do you know someone in your family who died of an overdose? Do you know someone who’s marriage was destroyed, lost their kids to foster care, lost a job, or served time in prison or youth detention due to any addiction?
- Only 10% of Americans dealing with addiction receive treatment.
- 4% of American teenagers struggle with a form of substance use disorder.
- 14.8% of young adults struggle with at least one form of substance use disorder.
- 1 in every 16 adults reported having a substance use disorder (SUD) in 2017.
- Meth is currently used by approximately 897,000 teenagers and adults in America, thus seriously contributing to the drug problem in America.
- Approximately 5 million Americans regularly use cocaine.
- Approximately 16% of men in America smoke cigarettes.
- 10% of the people who misuse opioids become addicted to them.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Do you know the number one addiction in America? It’s sugar. I am a recovering Coke addict. Yours may be Pepsi. Pornography and sex addiction is wrecking havoc on our youth, on our marriages, and our churches. 70% of men in an evangelical church are facing a secret porn addiction, 40% of Pastors, and 30% of women in any church in America on any given Sunday struggle with porn. Lies feed addictions, and the big lie about porn use is it isn’t hurting anybody. The brain scans of porn addicts look the same as cocaine users. It is destructive to the individual – and the family.
America, we have a problem. I want to tackle this but I can’t do it alone.
I share a lot of details of my story below here – I have been a pharmacist for 20 years, but a month after we built our dream home in Hamburg my pharmacy I helped open suddenly closed. And 3 years later I still have yet to land a full time stable job. But in that time, I have taken steps to learn how to better help people see freedom, I have had some direct experience in helping people get free, and I have found a way to help fund this project. I want to create an affordable addictions program that comes to the addict. A thief won’t seek a police man, and most addicts aren’t going to come find help.

12 Put on good habits, like exercise and eating right
