If you posted that on a business group you would get 1,000 LINKS and promises of an easy road, and ways to make $5,000 overnight from your easy chair with one hand tied behind your back, blindfolded.
Plus endless invites to telegram groups, promises you will be joining the next UBER or Netflix, investment opportunities that promise to be the next Bitcoin, and a whole bunch of other offers.
It’s no wonder so many folks tune out opportunities these days- it’s seems there are more people fishing than there are fish.
BUT that doesn’t change the fact that most of us need extra income and are sincerely looking for a way to work from home-or-phone. And maybe even be able to own a franchise-at-your-fingertips.
My argument is this- despite the challenges of trying to find the right opportunity, and despite the obstacles that will impede success, I think it’s necessary and critical today to learn 3 skills-
- How to earn extra money from a side business that gets you a 1099 deduction on your taxes
- How to find ways to stretch your buying power with inflation cutting your dollar in 1/2
- Ways to get out of debt, and find some ways to invest for the future and be prepared
A good side business can help with all that- one of the ones I found does those 3 and more. What I also recommend is to learn the fundamentals of the side biz and this way you can pivot and change gears if one company doesn’t work out, or goes under, whatever.
The big lesson is preparing for the unknown in today’s world. You can’t cover all the bases, but if you are not spiritually ready for eternity you risk wasting your life when you step out of here. If you don’t prepare financially and learn to embrace new skills that are necessary for a new world out there, you will always be stressing out about money and leaving your family in a world of hurt if something happens to you.
A reality check is much needed- Inflation is not going away because 40% of ALL CURRENCY printed was done during the COVID years. This puts our inflation rate at 8% so in 9 years – where $1000 will be worth just $459 in just few years.
Do you have a plan to double what you earn by then? Do you think your job will pay you double by then?
I am a licensed Pharmacist. Twenty years later, I make maybe a few more dollars I did when I just got out of school, but benefits are incredibly more, and I am doing 2–3 X more work.
If I have to do even more work than I do now, that will put me in the grave in 2–3 more years, let alone failing to have me earning double.
You need to face reality. Do you have a PLAN? Do you honestly think if you can’t pay the bills now that you can find time and energy and money to go back to school and find a better job than you have now- and that it still will be enough to dig out of this black hole we are facing?
Do you think whoever is President can do a thing about all the extra currency America printed? Do you really think things will ever go back to the 1950’s when one breadwinner could pay for a home, a car, 2 vacations a year, and put 3 kids in college and retire with a pension?
That is the EMPLOYEE lifestyle of yesterday. It doesn’t work today. At least not entirely.
That is why you need to master the fundamentals of an online business.
These include Part A: Master the Skills
- Master Contacting people and inviting them to take a look at your business, service or opportunity. Assuming you found a good one to join. – This would be the invite my business team teaches folks to use- “Hey Elliot If I could Show you a way to double your bucks with every swipe of your debit card would you be open to checking it out? If not, no worries.”
- USE TOOLS- instead of feeling you have to master sales. If they say yes, I say, “Great, I have a quick 3 minute video that will it explain it better than I can. How soon can you watch it?” Then send it, and follow up. “ I see you watched my video- what did you like best?”
- Connect them to someone with more experience, sign them up, get them using the card and plugged into trainings, and repeat.
Part B: Master the Mind.
The harder part will be to master the mind. You will need some posture. When you have a job, you will have a while bunch of people above you and when it maps out it looks like a pyramid. People can laugh at you and say, “HAHA! You are in a Pyramid scheme!” but you won’t quit because you have a guaranteed paycheck holding you hostage.
Now most side businesses also will look like a pyramid. Some might be harder to build – like I don’t recommend having to sell expensive products or services just to be in a business. If someone can find your stuff 1/2 the price on Amazon, it will be harder to have true value for people who just want to be a customer. A good side business has true value if people have no interest in a business opportunity, or want to test drive the product or service before they join up as a consultant.
You need to understand some basics about side businesses- and develop what is called posture. Posture is you not crumbling like a cracker or running for the hills if someone says something negative. If someone criticizes your kids, you may agree to some extent, but you don’t take their side. IF someone calls you baby ugly you stand by your baby. Same with your side biz- it may not be perfect but if someone says, only those at the top make the money. The postured response is, “I understand, I used to feel the same way. But what I found is that it’s really performance based and many who joined after me make more than those who have been there for years.” And you can also ask them if the janitor at their company can ever make more than the CEO. In a good network or affiliate marketing company, the one at the bottom doing more work can make more than someone who has been there for years.
You also need to understand some basics like how dopamine works- it is your brain rewards system. Your working for a wage will give you dopamine even though it’s not enough to pay your bills. You working for yourself at first will be a lot of upfront work and little results, so the dopamine will be limited and you will feel flat and want to give up. You need to embrace a daily routine, even if it’s just reaching out to 10 to 20 people a day online. Or 3 phone calls off line. Whatever. You need to not be easily swayed by other’s criticism and you need to find ways to reward yourself before the comp plan kicks in and you get this off the ground. The good news is you can tap into courage and consistency before you have confidence and see success. And you can tap into the TEAM that will be there to support you. My team is called Team Unity.
